Whats the deal with the fog lights on 92-94, or arent they fog lights??!!
Im getting a 92 SC400 in 2 weeks, black on tan, etc. etc.
Ive been following this board for a couple weeks now so I already know what I want to do....Xenons, 97 and up front end, etc.
Now I was always under the impression the 92-94 had cornering lights, never knew what that meant though....can someone explain?? I guess the main questions are...
1-Will I be able to turn on my fog lights without turning on my headlights....?
2-If I put my left or right turn signal on....will it blink in the headlight assembly, or in the fog assembly?
3-Lets just assume the fogs cannot be turned on without headlights...at night both the fogs will be on with the headlights right?? They wont ONLY turn on when I turn left or right will they? That would suck. I like the 4 light look (2 fogs and 2 head). If someone can clarify, I think you all know the answers since you have had your SC, Id appreciate it.

Sorry to say, that they only turn on when you put your turn signal on. However you can rewire them to make them into foglights, I'm sure if you did a search on it, you would find out how to wire it together. So, no, they are not "foglights" they are "turning lights" kinda weird but people notice you when your turning.
Have a nice day.

Sorry this thread is getting old, but .....
The "turning lights" ... remember ever seeing one of those huge domestic yachts on the road? When their blinkers are on, there is this light that turns on and lights up that whole side. It's designed to aid drivers in turning into dark driveways, etc. Headlights aim forward -- "turning lights" shine sideways.

Hi JohnM,
The 91~94 JDM Soarers (or indeed the 92~94 SC's) only had cornering lights in the bumper. However you can rewire them as spotlights. I'm getting mine as soon as I get enough money to do the bodywork to my Soarer (colour coding of a few parts and fixing a dented RQP). The way I'm hoping of doing it is that they turn on when the parking lights are on, with a relay wired in so that whenever cops drive past they won't book me for having auxiliary lighting (having non-factory auxiliary lighting in Sydney is apparently illegal )

Yep. The 92-94 are cornering lights and apparently use different bulbs and optics than 95+. You can splice in an automotive relay to be triggered off the parking lights and tap off the battery to "convert" them into foglights. I wrote a long thing about it all a while back. Search for "relay".

I thought the same thing when I got my 94 Soarer, but as it turns out, they actually are fog lights (on mine at least). There is a second switch on the headlights arm that turns them on and off. They both come on when the parkers or full beams are on.
Maybe yours will be the same.
