Unhappy Help: I messed up timing marks... 1UZ

So I'm changing the timing belt today, and I didn't read the instructions correctly. I aligned crank to "0" but did not look at timing mark on camshaft gear. Removed the belt, and then when installing the new one, I rotated camshafts several degrees to make them align to the timing marks. Basically now my timing is messed up and I don't even know what to do... As far as I know, each revolution on crank equals 2 revs of camshaft but how do I know on which revolution of crank, the timing marks on camshafts would align?
thanks.

Yikes... so you are saying you moved your camshafts without your belt on? If you moved them you might have some bent valves. However if you did not move your camshaft with the belt off then you should be fine.... all the marks would be already lined up for you. If not then put the belt on from where it is, tighten the tensioner for the belt an move the crank untill its at TDC "0". Then double check to see if the camshaft pulleys are alined with the marks. If not then chances are you moved the camshaft without the belt on. dont kno if the 97 300's are interface or non. Hmm anyone know? That will help with the bent valve possibility.

Oh wait u have a 97 1uz? That confirms that if you did move them a full rotation without the belt on, deffinitly bent valves...

No bent valves luckily. I aligned crank to 0 and camshafts to their marked positions, assembled the engine and it runs as good as before. Thanks for help tho.

the 1uz is non interference so you cant hit the valves against the pistons no matter what, on top of that you are no where near strong enough to do any damage at all by turning a cam by hand even if it was interference.

I treat all motors that im not sure if they are interference as if they are, and for that matter the habit has carried over to non interference engines as well. so its not a bad policy just to assume everything is. I wouldn't hate on the general mechanic too bad, he deals with a lot of different stuff he cant memorize everything.

Right, except when i originally ran into this i hadent realise that i could screw something up from that whole ordeal. But as you said, good policy to just asume.
