Default SC400 - Need Your Opinion

I am looking to purchase a late model SC400. I have located a 97 SC400 with 120K miles. It has custom 22" rims. They are asking 4k. Black with tan leather.

Good Condition - What are your thoughts?

keep the rims?

I have been searching on here and I can't find a recommendation for anything over 20's. Most are 19's. Probably a good idea.

The rims on it look sweet though.

ugh, i'd pay them to dump those wheels. for 4k, is it clean title? it looks like it's in relatively good condition. If its not salvaged, i'd jump on it.

I believe the phrase is "jump in it"...without the wheels. But if they have big ghetto wheels, then they probably have a big ghetto wiring mess for their "system". I've dealt with one of those messes before.

car looks clean, i'd pick it up if everything checks out (maintenance, clean title, no major problems, etc.) but again ditch the wheels

Looks pretty good if it checks out. See if the owner has the stock wheels.

agreed buy it w/o the wheels. If your budget allows for it, try to get a 98 with the vvti 1UZ

OK

I took it for a drive today -

she purrs like a kitten
runs and drives nice
starts easy

back seats are a 10
front seats and interior are an 8 out of 10
no cracks anywhere just use

tilt column does NOT work - buttons work and I hear the motor but no movement

NO lighting on the instrument panel except for the hands on the gauges - basically you can see nothing except the hand and the dimmer for those works great

cosmetic damage on back driver side quarter panel - no mechanical damage - a small fender bender

a couple small chips in the paint

original owners manual in the glove box

an "almost silent" scrub on the passenger side when driving - sounds like a brake pad - could be because of the wheels

dealer said he would change out the wheels and tires - he has a set from an LS400 - picture below

I got the VIN and am ordering a carfax - where is the place online where I can lookup maintenance records that are kept by Lexus? Anyone know?

Thanks you all four your help with this.

What should i offer? Is it worth it?

^^^i personally havent used it but another member posted this link up on another thread and it works.

the lighting isnt a huge issue but the tilt column not working and the damage on the quarter panel turns me off. is it just a few scratches on the quarter panel?
