Default ***** and his lexus woes:( need some serious help!!!!!!!!

Hey guys.

Yes I am still going through lexus hell.

From the beginning again.

Car was stalling out on me mid drive and was not starting up all the time.

Computer was throwing a code 41 and later on a code 12-"tps" and "rpm"

Replaced the "tps" and cleared the codes, problem still persisted.

Codes do not come back but symptoms remain.

Tried to replace the "ecu" , no luck. "Ecu" was either a dud or did not take to my vehicle for some reason.

Lexus dealer spent three hours on it and nothing.

My local mechanic who has turned out to be a great man and helping me out alot----tried to diagnose with no luck.

Today I have noticed a huge detail that I think will help shine light on the suspect problem.

The engine will cut out and will not start when it gets hot or gets to a certain temperature.

It is not overheating at all just cuts out when it gets to a certain temp.

Today the car stalled on me and wouldnt start up for hours--it is scorching hot out today so car was not able to drop temp even though it sat for hours.

I poured cold water all over the top of the engine and engine components and electrical-------started right up!!!!!!!!

After realizing that my problem is directly related to the engine temp i do not believe it is an "ecu" problem like everyone was telling me.

Unless the engine is heating the wires going to the ecu and causing a problem.

But this seems unlikely as I only poured water on the top of the engine and electrical parts on the top and not down leading to where the "ecu" would be.

I would like to hear what you guys think of this.

The car is dropped off at my local mechanic and he will begin electrical diagnostics today or tomorrow but i would like to hear what you guys think also?

Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

your temp gauge isn't working and you have been overheating your car??? or a bad contact somewhere causing the car to die out. My dad had a similar issue on a truck he had before but it would only do it when it was raining causing it to short out and die.

First off, I wouldn't recommend pouring cold water over a hot engine or engine electronics . . . That's a no-no!

I would suggest you get a can of circuit freeze ( http://www.cpcares.com/TAE/puretronics/TAE-7400.html ) or something equivalent (even just a C02 duster can turned upside down) and use it discretely upon individual components/areas and see if you can isolate it more precisely. It will evaporate and leave no residue so it's much safer.

Two things come to mind: the air temperature sensor inside the mass airflow sensor, or the coolant temperature sensor.

Do what good2go said, and buy a can of compressed air and flip it upside down.

After the car is heated up and will no longer start, try cooling down JUST the mass air flow sensor. Try starting it. If it starts, then there's your problem. If it doesn't, go onto the coolant temperature sensor....and so on.

Good Luck, that's a shame your sc400 is giving you much problems.
