interior trim.... real wood???

i'm wondering if the wood trim around the interior is truely wood or a synthetic material (plastic,fiberglass, printed vinyl). i have a little project idea but i need to know what the material is before i even bother trying.

It's real wood, pull your door panel and you can see it from behind.

beware there is about 6000000 coats of clear on it and the wood underneath is paper thin veneer so if your gonna sand it be very careful. it doesnt take much to burn through the veneer to the aluminum underneath its very annoying
