Default H1156 and H1157 bulbs - melt my tail light housing?

I want to go with H1156's for my turn signals, but I'm worried I'll burn up the housing. They shouldn't be on very much, and once i get the sequentials in they'll be on even less. Anyone used the H1156 in place of the 1156?

Not to sound like a complete fool, but what does the H stand for in H1156 and H1157? I've never seen that at the store?

exactly what the "H" stands for, and exactly why its melting the plastic. Those halogen bulbs put out wayy to much heat, switch to regular 1156/57 bulbs and you wont have that problem.

I had a projector for lectures that used H1156 bulbs, and after 3 minutes of being on, you couldnt touch them.
