Make sure you are all paying attention to the last line in the OP. It doesn't come with a picture and a flashing sign, but neglect it and the handle will fail.

Here was my solution. 1" piece of aluminum bent to connect the screw holding the armest to the door with a hole for the long screw to attach the door panel to the door. Tough as hell and very easy! It uses no glue and has multiple screw attachment points for strength.

Exactly what I did over 7 years ago and still no problems. Why Lexus couldn't have just put some metal there I don't know.

^ Keep wishin on that star. Photobucket deleted an entire folder of mine during an upgrade, looks like these were in it. This is why I always say host everything you post here in the CL gallery. When I dig them out of the archives and re-host them, it will be in the gallery instead of photobucket.

Thanks O L T! This is a big help. I have mine out, seems like the last owner managed to destroy every mounting point, as well as crack the upper and lowre panels. I'm thinking of using fiberglass reinforcement material to repair the missing tabs and cracks, and the metal trick for the handle to door mounting.

Anyone else redone theirs w/fibreglass?

I used plastic epoxy with some fiber glass mat.
Just like u would for fiberglass repair. The epoxy works great.
I was even able to drill out new holes for the screws that broke off.
I filled the missing parts with epoxy. Then added a layer of fiberglass mat. Then the metal strip then one more layer of epoxy with fiberglass mat.
Sanded smooth and I don't have any gaps. Plus it as strong as nails.
