Default 95 Sc400 jerking, clunk, stalling, HELP

I have been searching so if I have missed it please let me know.
I drove 3 1/2 hours to ATL this past weekend and when I got off the interstate my car died and fired right back up then when I got back on the interstate it started jerking and making a clunk noise. I googled my symptoms and found where a lot of people have had this problem with their 95 Sc's and Ls's. And they fixed it by getting the ecu rebuilt. But I also read that you need to replace the cruise control computer as well. I am going to send the ecu ( if thats the problem) to auto truck electronics I think thats the name of it to get rebuilt. Has anyone used them to get the $99 rebuild?

Thanks in advance!

I personally have never heard of this place, but that doesnt mean they are NOT reliable or dependable on their work. Most people on here get one out of a good running one for around 50-100. GL and let us know what you decide.

So you're just going to assume its the ECU? I'd start with the basics - stuff you prolly need or will soon anyway. Plug wires, cap(s) & rotor(s), fuel filter...

...and even before that, check for DTC's, don't just throw parts at it.

Im not really throwing parts at it I have the exact same problems as these. I just dont see plug wires or dist cap being the problem being that it drives fine until after a highway trip. I reset the ecu while in atlanta and it drove home just fine another reason I was thinking ecu.

That's cool, sounds like you did some research. My SC400 would start jerking after driving for a while too. It was plug wires. I'm just saying, if you have original secondary ignition components - they're going to fail soon anyway and you should do them as preventative maint regardless of your current issue.

On my SC300, the wires failed suddenly and violently! Car ran perfect driving to work, went to lunch and barely made it back. I didn't think wires could fail like that.

I was looking at past receipts and the wires were replaced in the last 2 years. Thats one reason that I kind of ruled them out but I guess I should keep them in mind.

I haven't had to replace my ecu on my 93 yet, but I am going to have my climate control rebuilt by ATU. Let us know how it goes.

i had my ecu rebuilt by them a few weeks ago. im having the jerking issue on my 93 ls. im still getting the error 41 tps error. i have checked the tps. it is good. tried another good tps. same issue. checked the wiring from the tps to the ecu, it is also good. and the ecu was just rebuilt so idk what else it could be. im going to check for a vacuum leak. maybe the ecu is giving a tps code as the tps signal is wrong for the amount of air the maf is reading? idk what else it could be.

See my thread here, https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...-stalling.html

and tell me if the problems I'm having are the same as yours. My car will not stay started at all now, and it was a continual decline over a couple months as to how long the car would stay running. Does your EFI fuse get smoking hot after driving? I'm throwing in a new fuel pump this week (it's cheap and the one in there is original so I might as well) so if it's not that I'm back to ignition.

When replacing my drivers side valve cover last night i found this.

Im thinking that this could have been causing a small vac leak? The hose had 2 cracks in it.

Thought the engine was very clean for 245k miles!
