Nice writeup dustin!
My 92 SC's alarm went off and it killed power to the starter, and for some reason my master key cant disable the alarm.
Anyway, I'm planning on using a modified version of your mod to create a push start ignition which would send power to the starter and bypass the alarm's kill. This seems like the perfect mod for my application, as I wont have to spend $400 on a keyless system, and I will be able to use my car with my current key.

If/when I do it I will be sure to take pictures to try and fill in the first section of your write up which you didnt have pics for.

Just throwing this out there, its very easy to make your "keyless" start system. All it is, is an RF proximity sensor. All you would have to do is make the sensor trigger a relay that would allow activation of the ignition.

Bumped this old thread.

Wanted to see any past members have done this mod, and how they like it? I think it would be a cool thing to do, but I would want to delete the key all together. I did look at some of the links and they have it down pat on the know how on this.

Only thing that I have a question is what did they do with the steering wheel lock cause none of those video shows them moving the steering wheel in anyway. I hate the fact that you have to shut your car door to start and stop the engine.

I dd the s2000 switch inmy rx7. It was a worth while mod but I removed the entire ignition switch assembly as well as the locking cylinder. One thing I considered was using a tracker ignition switch in stock location (the big red switch that can't be removed). Only way I would do this to my SC is if I had a proximity wireless fob.

Wht up Dustin, gud info on the push button start install but I already dat one done (pics n my gallery), and its wired from under da dash! wht I going to install now is a keyless, push to start w/ da key fob dat unlocks da doors whn u wlk up & lock, arm da alarm whn u wlk away like on ur newer mods, depress da brake & push da button to start it! I hv a 04 Dodge Durango wid this unit on it already, I need to kno which wires on da ignition switch operate da key n tilt system so dat I can hook this part up to acc (1st push of da button) so it still wks upon entry! I don't wanna lose this part! so if u kno which ones they r (da color) it wud b a huge help for me!
Thxz for da Info!

i took my whole interior apart yesterday to try to get to the key starter, but it's just a big metal cylinder and i couldn't figure out which wires to tap into. i wanna do it just the regular way with the key but where are the wires? i saw 2 wires for the light and then a little harness underneath but i don't wanna just cut and splice them without knowing what they are. is it easier somewhere to get to the wires another way?

Bumping this! I would like to do a push button start only. Don't want a car alarm. I saw this on eBay. I know it's Chinese but I've never had a problem with their items. Of course there install instructions lose something in translation but it looks like they have an answer for the steering lock.
