the engine is a very reilable car. the reviews you read probly knock it down because

1) gas mileage is not so hot
2) power is not great NA for the weight of the car
3) the year alone

old car and reviews on them dont matter to the enthusiasts. as reviews seem to compare the car to other cars on that level. STOCK for STOCK.

we compare our cars on a higher level. MODDED.
almost every part of a supra can be added to our engines. that itself is worth alot more than any of the new cars on the road.

Buy a 2010 Civic SI for $24,000?
Buy a 92 SC300 then Swap to a Twin Turbo Supra engine for $15,000?

hmmmmmmmm... is there really a choice anywhere? new cars are overpriced and you get laughed for paying that price for a civic. when $5000 more you could of bought a new lexus

read around the forums there is alot of info to know before you buy one and what to look for if any problems come up we can help. good luck

hunt718, Are you asking about an SC300 in general, or are you asking about a model year 1992 vs. a later model....say 1997 - 2000 model? THAT is a question that will get a bit more consideration here. You can make pros and cons to that, depending on what you value in the car. Personally, I'd like a low mileage '92 because it's old enough to be well depreciated, it's got OBD1 and no VVTI. However, I definitely prefer the 97+'s bumpers and skirts. Sounds like a deal to me.

I wanted more info on the year itself. Not the general model because I love sc300/400.

SO what do you value?

Are you considering going NA-T?

Do you recognize the style changes of 92-96 vs. 97+ ?

Do you want a model year that has more used parts available for it?

Not sure who told you that, but if that were the case there wouldn't be a thread on here about under value /under appreciated. Enjoy your low mileage SC & take good care of it, in about 30yrs it might be worth that. If your buying an SC for flipping, you'll want to get a clean one & low ball price, cause you might get 5 to 7k resale if that, At current time.

Thread is about 5 years old...probably was worth more around 10k back then. Surely not 15k.
