you can always replace the stock twins. that is the best option if you are on a budget.
otherwise go single.

What is the end goal for this car? If you are going to end up going single in the long run, then it would be more cost effective to save up now and go single right away rather then buy another set of used twins which you'll later have to swap out anyways.

You could also consider using USDM 2JZ-GTE twins, they are not a bolt on but I have seen people adapt them to fit the manifold. If I remember correctly you can make a lot more power using USDM 2jz twins on a 1jz than if you were running stock 1jz twins.

Also if you are working with a budget of $1000 you most likely will not be able to afford a quality single turbo upgrade, especially when you factor in the supporting modifications to make 450whp!
