I had made a custom harness for my 92 (97 conversion) and tapped the parking light as a 12v switch so that my fogs turn on as my parking light did also. I had HID on them and they flash every time I lock/ unlock the car and never had a problem with them for 1+ year.
Though you haven't had a problem, it's not good to "hot-fire" HID systems, you ARE decreasing the life of the components, and I would strongly recommend against anyone flashing their HID's, this is also why it's not a good idea to use them for brights (aside from the warmup time.)
True. HIDs do needs time to warm up and are not suppose to be use for quick flashes.
At the same time for me, my old TL came with hid and when the alarm sounded/ flash on that the HID did the same. It came from factory like that so it good for me.
After about 2 years my passenger fog light stopped working. I ordered a new hid kit because I thought the ballast went bad. There ended up being no power at the harness after the new kit was connected. Checked the relay and a few of the connections at the car started to burn up. Hooked it back up without the mod and it worked fine. It blew my bulb and started to fry the wiring.
Pics work dude, i had it and took it off because i would occationaly leave them on and destroy the battery.. They stay on no matter what, its like running direct line from battery to lights to a switch inside..
Going on 3 years with my set up and no problems, I cant believe it has been that long . Man time flies. I will have to take new pictures of my setup...and take the car apart.
