my first lexus..97 sc400!
Hello everyone,
Ive been searching for an sc300 for the past few months now. My target car was a 97+ sc300 for around $5000. I poked around craigslist for awhile before finding this car, a 97 red sc400. Long story short, I had to jump through some hoops and had some help from Tuterz before I finally got her back home. The seller was a total dbag but the car was too good of a deal for me to pass up.
The purchase of this car is alot of firsts for me. It is my first non Honda/Acura, first automatic, and first V8. On top of that it is the oldest car and highest mileage I've ever owned, lol.
Everything on the car is in tip top shape. I spent 10+ hours doing paint restoration, which turned out amazing! Unfortunately it has been raining the past few days so I can only take garage pics =(.
I found a small oil spot after parking for a few hours. I traced it back to a rear main seal leak =(. Its not too bad but its the push I need to do a manual conversion!
First mods will be suspension then some low offset 19's. Then I'll drive her til the 1UZ gives and go from there. Which from what I'm reading, will be a good while! lol.
Now onto some pics. Guess the mileage!!
I threw on some 19x10.5 SSR SP1's from my friend's car to see how they'd fit. Then decided to photodrop them =P.

That is the hottest color for an SC ever. I saw one in the showroom brand new in 1993 and swore I'd have one. Settled on black.
The holes in the front bumper make jesus cry, but it's still damn pretty.......
You're hosed on that conversion idea............

Ahh is that cherry red that I see?
I love that color sc and your car is clean as hell. I hope you didn't pay too much for it. I just purchased a sc400 98 vvti in white color and it was near mint also. I paid only $6000, well $6400 after flying to Santa Maria CA to pick it up and resgistering at DMV. I like how you rolled the fenders and spaced out the wheels. That's my next plan after the headers.

O.L.T- below is a pic of my climate control issue. I think you are the come to guy for electrical problems. I tried searching for a DIY on replacing the LEDs but came up empty. Do you have a writeup and any other options for repairs? I want it to match my guage cluster in brightness and color. The color right now is very dull compared to the cluster. The Naka headunit will eventually go so I am not worried about that...
Thanks in advance!
