Sanengo and HighPSI, did you tire setups throw your speedometer off a little?

Maybe 1%-2%, but no more variance than you would find from manufacturer to manufacturer utilizing the factory tire size. I wouldn't worry about anything less than a 5% variance.

Here's a good calculator:

Factory size is 225/55/16 - you can see how several different sizes compare.

Isn't 19x8.5 way to narrow for the rear of an SC?

It's been 7 years since the last post but have we reached a consensus on the ideal tire dimensions with these rims?

Ideal for what purpose? Looks, racing, street? You can easily run anything from a 225 - 255 on those. If you like the stretched look I'm sure you can get away with a 215. If you want to go wider I've put 275's on a 8.5" wide rim before.

A good all round tire for cruising and city driving. Stock suggests front and rears be 225/40/19 and 245/40/19 I think. Although how much worse would the comfort be with 245/35s?

I'd also love to know how the wheel sits and whether spacers are required, or fenders rolled for the stock tires.

If I remember right the offset is in the neighborhood of +30-35, so I'd think these would fit nicely on an SC in stock trim. As for modifying your fenders a lot of that is going to depend on how low you want your car to be. Do some searching on here as plenty of other guys have run this setup before.

In regards to tire and ride quality, well, that's always subjective. Generally speaking the lower the height the rougher the ride. If it was me though, I'd look at running a square setup and go with a 245/35 or 245/40 all around. This gives better handling and will allow you to rotate your tires resulting in longer life.
