I have fixed a lot of things before
.....but I can't fix stupid.
I get this email after returning a cluster:
So I respond:
No you'd think at this point... ok everything is fine, right?
The cluster shows back up here a few days ago and I get this email today:
Now folks I have fixed a lot of things in my time. I've repaired radios, I've built complete motherboards, I've built cars from scratch, but I have never been able to fix stupid.
~ Stevie Wonder can see that's an SC cluster and exactly why it doesn't fit as my return email stated.
~ There is no such thing as a cluster with a dimmer **** and trip controls on it. This guy took the dimmer panel out and doesn't know it???
~ Everybody in this forum (all 6,000 of you active SC members) has had to smack their climate or cluster to get old bulbs working. ESPECIALLY if you removed the cluster or climate to do with such as install a radio. Cold bulbs do not refire after you remove power unless you shake the filament. I guess he expects his 18 year old bulbs to fire right back up or something without shaking the filament.
~ Perhaps the most scary of all things though......... this is not an individual, this is a business. In Scottsdale, AZ there is a business that is working on an SC, and managed to somehow remove the cluster, but can't even figure out how to drop the tilting wheel to get it in or look over in the floorboard for the dimmer panel they took off.
......... god help you if it is one of you guys! So I am sitting here with a cluster that is the guys cluster and he can't get it to fit back in his car so he doesn't want it. What-the-.....? .....and that's what I go through on a daily basis.
Everyone who can see this is clearly an SC cluster say "I".
I get this email after returning a cluster:
Attached are photos of the instrument cluster that you sent me. Clearly it does not fit. It doesn't have a tripometer or a gauge dimmer switch that mine had. Also when I plugged it in some of the back white lights didn't work. All of mine worked, I only needed the needles replaced

So I respond:
Reach around the side of your steering colum and hit that "tilt" lever to tilt the steering colum down.
THEN plug the cluster in, and set it in it's proper place in the dash and reach over and grab the trim piece off the floor that you took off the front of the cluster 's bottom when you started removing it and plug it in as well so you have dimmer functions.
THEN make sure the dimmer is turned all the way up and turn the key so the cluster comes on. IF any of your very very old backlight is not firing, you can shake the filament up by slapping the dash above the cluster a few times to jar the old filament in the bulbs. it usually fires them back up. Otherwise buy eight #24 bulbs from an auto pats store and replace them.

The back lights did not work (I'm not going to tap on the dash, I didn't have to do that before I sent it to You) & IT DID NOT FIT!!!! I sent the wrong instrument cluster back to you and in return I want the one I sent you!!!! The correct instrument cluster for my 93 Lexus.

Wow just wow. You need to find a member close to the shop that knows how to install this and is willing to help you. Then let that shop know you are sending down a local SC "Specialist" to assist them.
I sure do wish i was close. I don't have an SC but would be more then happy to go make these guys feel stupid.
