now (new member deciding between sc300 and sc400)
Hey guys, I was referenced here from cardomain.com and I have a '97 Acura 3.0 Cl at the moment. I'm looking into getting either an sc300 or sc400. My 3.0 is a 6 cyl. and I do like to race, so I might kill myself in a v8. Any opinion of which type is better or which year is best? Thanks!

well buck-o... this racing had better take place on a track! don't be giving us SC owners a bad name but if it's good and legal! you could kill yourslef much easier in a 300 due to the turbo bug that most SC300 owners come down with, but go for the 400 if you want an AT and more power.

Hi - I suggest you start out by reading the primer that one of our members put together at www.intellexual.net
I've also retitled your thread from 'now' to something that is a little more descriptive

Not sure if this will help, but I just got my 400 "legal" yesterday. Bought it at auction and had to put some work in to it. Finally got it inspected (TX annual inspection, nothing special) and on the road.
That 4.0 is way powerful. Wish I had the 3.0 I6, 'cause I know I am going to get in trouble with the V8. To put it in perspective I have two fox body 5.0 GT convertible Mustangs. One is an auto and the other a 5-speed. The auto 'Stang is a nice cruiser, the 5-speed is a handfull. The SC400 would put them both to shame.
The "problem" with the SC400 is that it is so smooth, quiet, and powerful that it is really hard to tell how much "woof" you are putting down. When I actually tried to accelerate hard with it I was doing 90 before I had given it much thought. When it started to pull it speedo was moving almost as fast as the tach.
Love the car, but it has way too much power for me. Was going to ask a similar question when I saw your thread. Will probably start a thread entitled something like "Love my SC, but would like a little less power".
