Default Window/moonroof visors and mpg

I'm considering adding a pair of JDM window visors and a single-flap moonroof visor on my SC, and am curious if the installation of visors will affect mpg? If so, how bad will it be?

I dont think adding a couple of piece of plastic will affect your mpg.

just go for it. you can always take them off if you find it makes a material difference.

I doubt they would make much difference. They arent sticking out at a crazy angle or anything

I've noticed zero difference with the window visors. They're so tight to the window that you won't see a difference with them. You might lose half a mile to the gallon with the moonroof one but if you're really that worried about losing a mile to the gallon, you might consider saving your money for a few paychecks

They're aerodynamic. maybe if you installed them the wrong way (which is impossible) and they produced wind drag.. even then it would be a very small percentage. Don't worry about it! If anything, driving with your windows down has more drag than visors alone could ever have

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm interested in picking up a pair of JDM window visors from LuxuryMods.

What about the classic A/C vs. windows down? It's getting hot and I've been pondering if I should roll down the windows or use the A/C in the city, but of course the windows are up and the A/C is one whenever I'm on the highway.

for those who didnt get it....it doesnt affect it at all. in a negative way at least.

the positives. crack your window open in the rain. easier to smoke. also when you drive and use the windshield wipers the water doesnt drip all over the door panel and your window switches.

if you can get it for a good price then get it.

Mine still does when I have the windows down and I use my windshield washers

@A/C vs windows down - windows down will get you drastically better mileage. A/C sucks gas down like it's water in these things for some reason.

There was actually a study done on this a while ago. Driving with you windows down actually created enough drag to overcompensate having your cars A/C on. In other words, driving with your windows down on the highway actually wastes more gas than crankin' that A/C. However, in the city traffic, its a different story. City=Windows down, Highway=windows up. GL!

Oh wow - would never have guessed that. Good to know!

Although now you're making me wonder if the window visors will deflect the air around the open windows enough so windows down > A/C on the highway
