Default Question about w58 trans?

I need a new trans for my car and I know that the non-turbo MK3's and MK4's share the W58 trans but was wondering if it will still be direct bolt on for my SC since the trans I'm picking up is from a MK3.

What year sc do you have?
The mk3 should share the same w58 as the 92-94 sc300.
The sc95+ and the mk4 have an updated w58 with a different shifter neck.

they are not a direct swap, they are just the same type of tranny.
one has a longer tail housing and the bell housings are different cause ours mate to a 2jz and theirs mate to a 7m.
theoretically you can swap everything over if you have a donor mk3 w58 (i think)

but at the least you will need to change the bellhousing and get the shifter in the riht spot using various methods depending how you want to go.

search its well covered.

and you can use a 95+ w58 even easier cause it already has everything right. only thing is the shifter is a triped type with the ball instead of the old style.

actually there should be no reason to go through all that trouble and no one does it.
you can find one of a mk4 or a lexus for under 500 bucks. mk3 w58's arent any cheaper. if you want to do all of the above you should be replacing your tranny with the turbo mk3 tranny (R154). otherwise you are just complicating your life to downgrade your transmission.
