Default removing the wood trim

How hard is it to remove the wood trim around the AC vent on the dash?

Its not really hard its just time consuming cuz you have a few nuts and wing nuts to contend with. Mine was the older model pre-second airbag and its was a bit frustrating to get it out cuz its all one piece. There was a really good DIY which I followed on this site. I would recommend doing a search for "center vent removal" or soemthing along those lines and following those steps they were very thorough. The topic has been discussed quite a bit on here so u should find a number of threads on it.

Oh and I forgot to mention above most folks will say not to replace it cuz it will do it again, thats your call. The design of the vents was poor and created this defect. I decided to do it since mine is not a daily driver and its shielded in the garage from the elements.

like its a tight fit and when it expands it cracks? what if the sides are sanded down slightly to give it room for expanding and contracting?
