Default Which shifter will solve my problem?

i recently blew my w58 trans from an early model sc300. I had it replaced with a rebuilt 91 mkiii supra w58. Car runs fine except 4th gear has to be revved matched to shift smooth. I was told that in 95 the sc300 and supra shifter was or is the same thing. I also was told that a 92-94 sc300 shifter will fix my problem. Am i wrong? I heard that if i put a 91 mkiii supra shifter in my car it will sit different

car is a 1995 mkiv na-tt swap any help????

the w58 transmission in the mk3 supra and the w58 in the 92-94 sc300 are the same BUT the shifters are different. the shifter on the sc300 sweeps back more towards the back of the car to clear the center console when you shift in the 1st, 3rd, and 5th gears.

the mk3 supra r154 and mk3 supra w58 shifters are same and both will physically fit and work in the sc300 w58 BUT will hit the dash.

95-97 sc300 w58 is the same as the mk4 NA supra w58. both have an external shifter mechanism similar to the v160 in the TT mk4 supra.

what you can do is get a shifter from a mk3 supra with either a w58 or the r154 and have it cut and rewelded to suit your needs. if you know a half decent welder it should not cost more then 50 bucks and 1 hour of work tops. the most work will be cutting the shifter and mocking it up in the car so it works.

i have a spare r154 mk3 supra shifter right now that i will be modding to shorten it a bit to fit my trans and allow me to use a different style shift **** like the nismo or ralliart delrin *****.

if you know our shifter is actually made of two parts. the parts that is on the trans is connected by a rubber filled tube to the shift ****. our shifter is really fat because it has rubber in it to isolate noise and vibration which is all BS anyways.

agreed thats why my shifter is all cutt up to fit the sc300 w58 trans. I have a 91mkiii trans in it now and my shifter is slightly missing 4th gear. Now it could be 4th gear synco in that case we have 3 w58s laying around but i was told by many people to get a 92-94 sc300 shifter and it should sit fine we will find out soon what itl be..

the shifter will not fix a trans grind. its the trans itself. before you replace it drain the fluid and try the pennzoil synchromesh gear fluid. that should help.
