Gauge cluster year to year compatibility?

I need to replace the gauge cluster in my 95 SC. I thought I saw somewhere that I could go with a later model gauge cluster with no problems but just wanted to verify. Would I have to swap the dash harness as well? I may also need a dash harness but I'm not sure if the 96+ being OBD-II would work or if it wouldn't matter and it's all the same. Any help would be appreciated thanks!
