Default 1999 SC300 - MPH Needle Not Moving and Mileage Doesn't Show

Hey Guys/Gals, my names Kevin and I recently purchased a pretty well conditioned SC300 and I'm really happy with my purchase hehe. I'm not sure if its because it started to get "cold" in miami, but my mileage and mph guage stopped working/showing. It was working just fine at first but then it started to come and go every now and then. I plugged in my cheap Autel Autolink AL319 OBD2 scanner and I went for a test drive, I decide to view the live data and I noticed that my scanner was picking it up, I think that would elimate the need to replace the sensor right?. I also saw a video on youtube (
) and this guy recommended replacing some part on the circuit board of the tachometer (or speedometer not sure what's the right term) but obviously its not the same car so not sure if I should do this. I'm kinda new to cars and what not but I do hope this page helps me learn more and teach me how to take care of this baby. Thanks in advanced

Capacitors are dried out. If you can solder replace all of them you can. Same issue, different day. It’s an SC thing.

I had a similar issue with my 1999 sc 300. I watched this video and purchased the capacitor suggested in the video notes.

when I attempted to disassemble my gauge cluster I found it to be quite different from what is in the video. I was able to locate the same component on my circuit board, I desodered the old component and soldered in the new one .... it worked!!! My odometer came on and my Speedo worked . Give it a try it wasn’t easily to get the new capacitor in the hole but I made a tool from a piece of bamboo that dropped it in 1 second. If you need help let me know.

Did you happen to take pictures @Jfed . I’m having the same issue. I’m going to order that part now.
