My headlight wetsand/recondition adventure results
Hello everyone. Like some of you, I have a sc that has sat in the Florida sun for many years and the headlights get cloudy and yellow. I'm pretty cheap so I didn't want to go out and buy new headlights yet. I couldn't get all the yellow out but for those of you that have yellowing lights I suggest you try it. The results were pretty good for the money (20$) and time (2 hours) put in to it.
This is before when I first got the car:
Then I polished them with plastic polish, but that only got the cloudiness out. It didn't get the yellow out.
Then I wet sanded with 800/1500/2000 grit sandpaper then polished them and got this.. Not perfect but alot better then before. (the highbeams are perfect, so use them as reference.)

Nice job. I used the toothpaste method myself and the results are amazing. I also bought some Meguires plastic polish and it worked about as good as the toothpaste. Go figure! I'm going to tackle doing the whole enchilada on my passenger side headlight tomorrow. It needs to be resealed and everything. fun fun fun.

OK, I got it all apart and cleaned the outer lens with the toothpaste. It polishes it fine and takes off the yellowing, but it has no effect on all the little scratches. I couldn't notice them as well without the lens being in my hand to really have a good look. I would highly recomend, based on this, to use the sand paper method or some sort of polishing compound with a buffer to get out the scratches.

I had a go at wetsanding my lights today using 800, 1200 and 2000 grit and it worked very well!
The highbeams came out looking brand new. However, the results weren't as good for the outside lights, but still a lot whiter.
I don't have any photos though.
