Default Permanent fix for your inside door handles!!

If this has been covered before, I apologize and mods please close.

So I had both my inside doors handles broken, so I went in search for good ones at the junk yard. There were no SC's, so I started inspecting the ones on other Lexus's.

Came to the conclusion that the handles in a mid 90's GS series were the same exact style and on top of that they were METAL. When I took them apart I noticed they were made different where they connect to the cable, but if you keep all the parts, it will work.

You have to grind off one of the ends of the pin that hold your old assembly together. The GS ones actually have a press washer on it that holds the pin in place. I reused the pins from the GS, so I could utilize the press washers. Just remember if you reuse the GS pins, you have to grind off a small portion of the other side of the pin for it to fit in your SC's door handle housing. You'll see what I mean.

I tested this setup about 100 times to make sure the cable didn't pop off and it never did once.

I will let the pics do the rest of the explaining. Sorry, iPhone pics

I wonder how much it would be to get them powder coated or something to have them color match. I know that'll eat up most of the savings, but you'd probably never have to replace them.

I've got a powdercoating rig....you'd have to media blast or strip that chrome off the handles then it would be cake from there.

Seeings how I just replaced both broken handles on one of my cars..

I'll try this!

Thanks alot man!
