Buy Yes or NO -1997 sc300 $7999?
I'm going to look at this black 97 sc300 tomorrow. Heres the rundown:
it has 115k on it, clean inside and out and test drove it and it runs great. it also has all its service records and has a clean title. There asking $7999 for it. I just want get peoples opinion on whether to go for it or not its a sexy beast to say the least.
thanks

will it need the 100k mile maintenance? It's a better deal than mine, plus it has the 97+ body, just not the 92-96 spoiler, which I like more than the spoiler on the 97+.

It seems like quite a few things start falling apart from 80k miles on, nothing disastrous but can be cumulatively expensive. (Would happen on any car) So search + see,
"Common problems": trans. + motor mounts; various bushings; struts; p/s + alternator, etc.
Finally, look under CL "Classified" section. There's at least one 1997 Sc3 listed there, w/ 125k mi. Started at around $9k a couple months ago. Still on market. Search and compare.
GL and happy shopping! (took me 4 mos. to find my SC)

good price. i wanted a 97+ myself but want a really clean car and couldnt afford it. so i went '93 for $4k and budgeted $4k for 97+ bodyparts, respray, new leather, wheels. still half way thru but getting there. i thought if i spent $8k for a 97 it will still have 10 yr old paint + worn interior (unless i get lucky and find one in good condition). in the end, i will be spending the same amount for the '93 that you will be spending for that 97. you will have a better engine and tranny, i will have new paint, leather + wheels. BTW, we have the same mileage, 116k on mine.

I'd totally ****** that up. If I had money and didn't already have an SC....I'd go for it.
My car had a dealer upgraded 97+ spoiler from the previous/original owner! I guess after several years of owning it, he wanted a spoiler to improve the selling point of the car. My car too had all the service records in the back of the book from the dealership and oil change/service records from third party places, but mainly the dealer or Toyota dealer.

What color interior?
Not that it should be a deal maker for you, but black on black is much harder to find and thus worth a few more pennies, IMHO.
I paid ~$1500 less for my 95 SC400 w/125 and documented proof of the timing belt, etc and am very happy. Would have paid more for the 98 or up, but I'm happy.
Seems like a good deal if there are maintenance records, but keep in mind right now it is a buyers market. Be willing to walk and see how much lower they'll go.
