Default removing the center wood trim on 97

anyone who had removed the center wood trim on 97, which is one piece. i did a search and found one removing the wood trim that is 2 pieces, wat i want to know is , do i have to take off the biggest piece which surrounds the driver dash light to the passenger airbag, in order to access the bolts that hold the wood trim? i already took off the glovebox but dont know where to go now, thanks.

Yes there are bolts lined up behind the wood so you would need to remove whatever is obstructing it. I've removed it before but that was when I took my dash out
