How to change HeadLight Bulbs
Hi, I just got some HID bulbs 9006 to replace my stock low beam headlights.
I opened the hood and couldn't figure out how to remove the bulb?!
Totally confused, how can it be so hard? All the other cars I've done were a CINCH. Any special tools needed.
HELP PLZ!

The light bulb change is quite simple. Just turn clockwise and pull. Take out the old buld nad put in the new one. Remember to wear gloves when doing this. The only problem is that space is tight unless you have small hands. Take you time or take out the battery.
The high beam is real easy and the parking light is real difficult.

what model year you have? i have a 1997 SC300.
i can turn clockwise and remove that part, and even unplug the power source from the bulb. but the existing bulbs is still locked up in there. do i just keep PULLING ?

I just changed my bulbs out yesterday, I used a small flat head screwdriver to help separate the power connection from the bulb, then the clockwise turn and mine came out pretty easy.

The low beam is the big socket with the rubber boot on it. It comes off clockwise and goes in counterclockwise. It has slotted gate to lock it in. The bulb for this should be SAE 9006 which has the angled electrical connector. A tip for you. Apply a thin coat of KY jelly to the new bulb lock in area. It does two things, first it aids in subsequent bulb removal down the line and second it provides a thin barrier for moisture. Do not touch the 9006 bulb with your finger tips. It is a halogen type bulb and the oil on your skin, if it gets on the glass part of the bulb, can cause very premature bulb failure. I use rubber gloves (surgical) and apply the KY jelly with a q-tip to the plastic tangs of the socket. You should get quite a few years out of the bulb, perhaps less with Canadian cars where the low beam is always on during driving.

KY is a Vaseline like lubricant for ... ahem ... internal use.
A general purpose lube for the bedside ... as it were.
