You have to replace the amp, because that amp is only 40W max, and will drive a 1-ohm speaker ONLY.

Also, I believe you need a free air sub.

That's right. That limits you to basically only a few manufacturers. Pioneer, MTX, and Kicker comes to mind.

I used Pioneer, b/c the rest of my car's system is Pioneer. I've read a post before where the MTX doesn't fit, because the foam on the speaker lip is too tall. Haven't read anything on Kicker.

Default Rockford

I put a Rocker Fosgate in there. Sounds great, have to put there cheapest line in because otherwise the speaker hits the fast tank. Wasn't a real big fan of the speaker until I heard it in my car. Makes the setup sound so much more rich, and if i ever need to thug it out...I always have the option

Rockford makes some awsome speakers. Their old punch series and the punch pro's are awsome competition speakers. I haven't heard of their new line up, but it is probably just as good.

What model 10" did you get, and which one hit the gas tank? Let us know.

Thanks,
Keith

When you guys changed out your sub in the cars with the premium systems (not NAK), did you use the factory amp to run the new sub and was there a dramatic difference?

This is not related to anyone specifically in thi spost but FYI:
there are three sound systems for the Lexus SC series. The basic setup is a Pioneer system w/ an 8" sub. The next system is a Pioneer system but it is called a Pioneer Sound Sytem Upgrade and it comes w/ the 10" sub. Then there is the Nak. w/ the 10" sub. Just make sure that if u have one of the Pioneer systems in ur car to measure the sub before buying a new one.

if your going to change your sub you might as well get a powered one. it will only take up a little space and will sound better then stock. Or if you are into car audio like i am get a regular sub and buy another amp to push it. both way you can get bass for under $250. Now that I think of it when i get my car it might be the loudest Lexus in the world!

For those who have replaced the stock sub with an aftermarket one...is the change significantly noticable? Or is it just a slight improvement? I'm looking into getting the sub replaced, but I don't wanna spend the money and realize that it's just a little better because I think the factory system is pretty decent as it is...Thanks!

Question

There is a thread in our foum, that a member changed out his sub with all the directions and the speaker used. Plus I think he kept the same factory amp...

Does anyone have that info?

hey lkon, i think i remember that thread, but i if i remember correctly, i think he just bought another amp to run the sub. to everyone else... i have a 10 kicker free air and it sounds much better than the stock one. i used the old school rockford fosgate chrome amp to run it. i don't think you can fit a 12" in there because the gas tank will be in the way, unless you want to custom a rear deck. i was thinking about doing that for more highs in the back, but decided it was a waste of money. besides, who sits in the back of a lexus sC anyways??
