Soon to be SC300/400 owner
Hi,
I've been looking into these for quite a while now. I really appreciate the body style of these cars. I currently own semi-track modded 240sx and I kinda wanted another car that would be an upgrade from it. My main concern is what breaks on these cars, whats expensive, and is there any common problem I should know about that I could check when I go test drive a car. I'm in San Diego and I mainly wanted the SC300 5spd but its seems impossible to find one, so now I'm really leaning towards and SC400. I just want it to be a reliable daily driver that I might mod but nothing major

thanks for the info guys.
For my budget right now, I am planning on spending less than $6k for the car, so it will be most likely a pre 95, hoping to find one with less than 150k miles on it.
I heard something about front lower control arms going back and its very expensive to replace since its one big piece like $750

thats good to know, I was curious if this is a common problem due to wear and tear or due to driving it hard, track etc.
But yeah mainly I wanna look at some cars this next week and I wanted to know what I should look out for, that could be bad.
cars will most likely be pre 95 SC300/400 175k miles or less goal

^ that general maintaince. I mean like does the 2JZ or 1UZ ever have any major mechanical problems. The leaky power steering seems to be the biggest issue but thats not even that bad of a problem. I mean like this for instance.
Cars I've had or been around:
Bros and friends car:
DSM's: Crankwalk, electrical problems, weak AWD trannys, weak pulleys
Bros car: 2 of them
7M Supras: Weak *** head gasket
Another friends:
N/A Rx7: burns oil, weak Rotor seals, always need attension, TII is worse
Mine:
240sx: KA24/SR20 (nothing really bad though), pretty solid, just require more attention when modded
z32: ok, fairly reliable a total ***** to work on though due to a compacted engine bay
