Default shift **** replacement for manual '92 sc300

I've been looking all over a manual shift **** to replace my OEM one. The OEM costs around $120-150. This is expensive because i can get a really good momo **** for around $80 (F-16). I've tried those universal ***** like momo and they don't fit as nice. You see some gap between the shift boot and the shift ****.

I'm looking for one that fits like the OEM where it just screws on perfectly. Or if you guys have any tips on buying certain ***** and making it look good them i would appreciate it.

thanks in advance.

I was quoted $63.87 for the shift **** from AmericanLexusParts.com.
Thanks,
David.

I got tired of looking at my worn shift **** but I really liked the feel of stock. TRD wants 60-80 bucks for their ****, so I made mine a little different. I cut off the leather, trimmed the remaining leather on top with a hobby knife, and tucked in the rest around the shift pattern. Here are a few pics of what it looks like. It feels the same other than being rubber, is the same height as the stock, and I think it looks a helluva lot better than with the leather on it anyway. Good, cheap (free), and quick alternative to buying a TRD **** right away.

Default search it...

Do a quick search. I am pretty sure it is Wmulli/walter that did a fantastic job in upgrading the shift **** and boot. I think that is the only way to get the aftermarket (momo/ichibahn) style ***** on right with no space. He has photos of what he did and I believe put in fishing leads to make more weight in the shift ****- even put in a new e-brake boot as well.

I have a stock IS shift **** (black/chrome) but there is that space. I actually like the ball style better in shifting. I did not think that I would like the ball style but I switched back and forth and I think the stock shift **** is too big now. The ball makes it easy to grab and throw. I am also looking at the Greddy counter weight shift ****. It feels good because of the extra weight, looks pretty much like the IS shift **** and the screw thread goes into the **** pretty far so it looks like it will go down pretty far. I am pretty sure the gap between the boot and ball **** will still be there. Good luck and post what you do.

I used the ball aluminum and leather from the 350Z,
plus it's got the engraved 6speed + R pattern =)
it's pretty nice. Feels good, fit into the palm pretty comfortablly, more so then the stick like stock shifter, but the aluminum doesn't match my wood interior, so I swapped back to the stock leather one

i'm fairly sure you could get a stock 240sx **** as well.. it's a very confertable ****, and has a terific throw on it. it fits the hand perfectly and doesn't get sticky or slippery b/c of sweat or anything. I got an aftermarket Nismo **** for my 240sx (which was supposed to be a killer upgrade as far as the shifter was concerned) and the 240sx stock one beat it out hands down. There's just something about factory shift ***** i guess..
