lol about the JL W7.
I visited JL's HQ down in Florida, I've got a friend that works there.
The 12 and 10 inch woofers are all made on the same production line, and they're producing the 12 inch run first. They've got over $300k backorders on 12's, and at this moment 100k backorder worth of 10's. He said the production run for 12's ends Dec 31st, and the 10s start on the 5th of Jan, with the demo units shipped by the end of the month.
He gave me a ship date of March 1st IF I have prepaid and am already on the list to get them from a LARGE audio shop. If you went to get one now, he talked like it'll be the end of April. Yuck. Hence the reason I just bought two more W6's to take the total to 4.

I've got all subs and all their voice coils parallel on a JL Audio 500/1. Yes it takes low ohms well... In the bottom of the amp I've cut two holes, and mounted two fans (one push one pull) to help cool it....boy it will be getting warm when I've got all the subs hooked up. Soudns awesome tho!
Well at this exact moment I've still only got the two in there, but I'm redoing the trunk to fit four. I just didn't have enough bass yet. I'm sure you know how that is!

Im headed back to the shop now..... The old box that was used in the SC400 was built for 4 tens...2 pieces,fits like a glove....looks simple in the front but pretty crazy in the back because of the shape of the car and space required for the subs.
If its still there i'll post later today.

wiz, the local shop here in Montgomery said if I order now and get on the waiting list I can have a 10w7 in 3 to 4 weeks. If this is true(maybe the wait depends on the shop, sort of how lexus dealerships are with the sc430) I could give you their number so you can be on their waiting list. Now I'm just confused but we'll see. I'm going to the shop today to order and ask my last set of questions to them. Later, Adam

Should be interesting considering JL only has like 8 of those 10's out there now...all only demo units. Without them being produced...I'd like to see them stick to that ship time.

wiz, I just talked to my car audio store, and they said that they should be receiving a bunch of demos end by the end of the month so they aren't taking to many orders. He is going to give me a definite in a few hours. He is calling JL audio right now for me. And thanks for the PM. I just responded to it. Later, Adam

They threw the box out a while ago(meaning someone took it home!)... She gets LOTS of emails from SC owners about the subwoofer setup in her car and other stuff..Im sure that some of the people are from here so ill try to find the plans or pictures of the build..its pretty cool and I havent seen any setup like it in an SC before.
CW:I wouldnt run that amp like that....Not stable at that load...heat is only half the issue.
There are TONS of other subs out there that would work MUCH better if you are going for a 4 sub setup like ours.
We had been using 4 JL 10's because of an accident involving 2 of the other subs that the enclosure was built for...since JL makes a VERY forgiving sub it worked out fine and we left it that way...Plus,saved LOTS of money from not having to order 2 new ones....And my truck needed speakers so it worked even better for me....free subs!!

Well in talking with JL...they said the amp is prett much stable down to 1/2ohm, and that heat was the only issue at that point.
They did say that less than 1/2ohm, things start to look bad as far as reliability goes...but I doubt this setup will be in there longer than a few months. I'm bad about switching stuff out. I got 2 RF 15's right after I got the car...then I replaced those with 2 JL 10's two months later, then bought two more a couple months later. Geez...I think I'm starting to see why I can only afford soup for dinner every night...LOL
