Honestly expect anything! I dont think THAT many people will get SCs because of how difficult it is to find even a 5-speed. But you just never know. I do love however taking the car to the track because it is FUN as HELL!!

I highly doubt that ill ever sell my Sc300. why? because It's been one of my dream cars, and the body line seems so timeless, I love my car, even more than i loved my old Ae86! If people did jump on the Soarer bandwagon, honestly, can you blame them?

The Hardcore heads will stick with owning an SC! Dont sell it because you dont want to be part of the trend, dont be elitist! own one because you want to own it, and have fun with it! **BEERS**

yea i dont think i could sell this car with the time and effort i plan to put into it, after all it really is my first car.

the piece of **** Honda Accord i had for two years doesnt count
thing was nothing but trouble, engine sounded like a tank, and transmission never gripped and damn thing nearly blew up.

Now the lexus, although it feels like a cow... is nice and smooth...

Well, a small chime in here:

Some suggested you could get a 240 for "$1200" --

Sure you can-- without a motor-- or all busted up--

I was looking at them when I got a 92 SC400--

I have a g20 and love it, but it's too small for me-- 6' 220, and the 240 is the same way -- too bad cuz SR20's are one of the baddest 4 bangers ever built for what it costs to mod them and how much torture they can handle..... There are absolutely TONS of mods out there for not much money, and they're light cars, so 240hp at the crank comes easy with a det and makes for one hell of a fast "ricer" -- and at that hp a properly tuned sr20 will hold up longer than my grandpa's Grand Marquis....

All that to say, they're two different animals, and most 240's I was even interested in buying were clean S13's or a not super clean S14, and most all of them had some kind of mods and they wanted around $3000 ~ $4000, or they wanted that much because they were 1 owner bone stock garaged cars.

I got my SC for $3400 and for basically the same money-- I used to own a BMW 535i 5spd Conforti Chipped and loved it. Hated to sell it-- So I naturally chose a SC400 over a 240 because of creature comforts--

There's no way this car will ever become the next 240sx because it's an absolute pig-- a great handling pig, but a pig still--

240's lightened can be 2400 lbs and even less (s13's) and with 250 whp, they're a low 13 second car--

I think they're much closer to being a race car when built right due to weight alone--

A soarer/SC is an awesome highway car, and great on the track, but after a short time here the number of mods available and the amount of legwork and money it takes to mod one, as well as research-- At least for the SC400, it's not going to catch on well in comparison to a 240 in a "drift" scene--

They are still timeless in the custom scene, and I'm amazed at how fast they can be with a 2jzgte swap, and would sell my left butt-cheek to get my hands on one of those motor/tranny combo's....

2JZGTE Swap= $5000 ish, maybe more once tuned

SR20DET Swap= $1600 for motor shipped to your door-- capable of 450+ whp on stock internals

SR20DET GTIR Swap= $2300 ish ---- capable of well over 500 hp stock internals...... needs to be modded a bit to fit rwd btw.....

240 control arms= $175 each

SC lca's= $550 each or more --

After all that said, I still chose an SC cuz my butt likes the seat better-- [heated seats]

Honestly those who came from 240's trying to make the SC their next dorifto car are in denial and will vote no because they are not able to accept the fact that it is happening again.

I agree with levistey0 though, glad that there are few 5-speeds out there, most will get turned off because there isn't a 5 speed available and go to another platform (thank goodness).

I would like the sc's to NOT be labeled as "drifter cars" imo.

I think sc is the next 240 due to the decrease vehicle cost and increase in aftermarket parts availability in the US not to mention an in expensive JDM engine swap. Not really a direct link to drifting.

I say it doesn't really matter.

If you're worried so much about other people and what they do to the same car that you have (like it or not), then go buy a car that isn't popular - like an Aztek or something.

And for the record, I had a 240sx before my SC. Just because of that, don't automatically stereotype me for my choice in cars.

haha...yeah Fred, for sure!

I told you to just keep it man. You've done enough to that car. Didn't you want to sell it to get a 240sx??...I kid I kid!

and for the record, It's great to have daily driving cars as drift cars. But if something happened to my car, Cosmetic-wise, I'm gonna fix it, you won't see me driving around with no bumpers with a huge dent on the door. Dor1 Style!!

I still want to keep it classy.

Done.

Exactly right.

I came from a Buick GN to an 5-speed SC300 (still got the GN though) Just because I needed a reliable (and fun) daily driver. The only other people I've seen with SC's around here are at least in their 40's. 240's aren't that common around here either, so I guess that can't be a good judge. I would venture to guess that no, the SC will not be a big deal like the 240 simply because of the weight and lack of availability for the 5 speeds. If it does and the car starts fetching a premium, I'll count myself lucky to have a car with a good (although temporary) resale value. =)
