My "half-way" worked great. I can't tell you exactly how far, but trial and error.

ok so i did the fix it worked for 5 months now the pop is back with a veangence . Just replace the whole hinge assembly ? Its really eatting at my fender.

Hmmm mine was "sagging" a little bit with this pop. I tried it, pulled the bolt out and it doesn't sag anymore/hit the fender anymore. Maybe I've been mistaking a "sag" for the pop.

Nothing lasts forever, but this fix has lasted me 3 years and still no issues at all

Ok I just did it and it did indeed take care of the problem as stated in the above posts however I discovered some slack in my hinge that I did not notice while the said piece was on the car so this will pronounce the problem a bit .

I need a good used hinge or to find the people who rebuild them? I know there used to be a guy on e-bay but I could not find him anymore.

I may try to fiddle with a junk yard hinge which I can get for 20.00 and see if I can get some bushings for it or something.

Maybe I have the wrong impression but this bolt does nothing? So what is the purpose of this bolt because I don't see why Lexus would put it there if it doesn't do anything. In a broader view what is the purpose of the sleeve?
