Help!! Angry Wife. Need Advice
Well, I thought I was doing a great thing surprising my wife with a brand new spoiler for her 1993 SC. Well, how wrong was I.
Now the trunk is too heavy and it doesn't stay open. I "made" this very secure pole to hold it open but before my wife locked herself in the bedroom I heard her mention something about being getto.
So, does anyone in ClubLexus land know where I can get pistons or whatever it is that holds the trunk lid open? I'm not so sure that I would replace the existing ones myself, but if I could locate a source of the product that would solve my problems, I'll pay whatever it takes to get them put on, and in a hurry.
So, please help me.

I do know that on autozone.com they list two different parts for the trunk lifters for spoiler vs. non-spoiler trunk lids. Also, the dealer parts differentiate between spoiler and non-spoiler lids, but they are overpriced. Quick temporary fix: tape a large helium balloon inside the lid.

First of all, you've got to admit that you did it to your liking, not your wife's
How about replacing the existing lifters with more heavy duty ones (after market). My trunk lid originally came with the spoiler (sc400) and now the lifters start to fail holding the lid up.

go to kragen.com
look up trunk lifts.
you should get the Gas powered lifts
they are 19 dollars each
you will need i think 12mm and 13mm wrenches
email if you have any questions on how to get them on or off

Great idea?? Not!
How selfish and unappreciative of your wife!!
Forget spending all that dough on lifts, buy her a $5 biking helmet and have her put it on before she opens the trunk!!
As far as having to keep reopening it while loading the mall purchases, tell her your paying for the stuff the least she can do is not crab about how comfortable it is for her to load it in the car!!!
