How many people have non working factory keyless entry?
#76
ok... I bought a new keyless control module and it does the same as the old one. at 95.1 I get a silence in the stereo when pressing the button... no tone. I put the key in the antenna hole and tried it... still nothing... what now?

Yo, OLT- any info on removing that back seat and panel? What does inserting the key in the antenna and pressing the button do? Also, if it unlocks- what is the next step?
Thank you!
Thank you!

I think the confusion is if your getting the tone on the radio. The transmitter
is the key when you push the button.
Tone on radio = key is good - check module
No tone on radio = key problem - check/resolder connection as described
OR replace transmitter.
O. L. T. am I correct?

If you got a tone on 95.1 your transmitter is GOOD. Thereby you should replace the control module. Seems like this is where we are right now.
Now that the control module is ruled out, we have to go forward from here with tests. You had to rule the control module out first.
OK, did you change the PROM out in the control module with your old PROM? The new control module will not have the same prom your old one did.
You'll see the screws on the side and a little door.

Also let me try to get this all right:
1) Key is the transmitter
2) I don't get a tone but when I press the key button the radio goes silent which means key is good
If the above two are true I thought it ment the key module need to be changed. I changed the key module and recieved the same results on #2 above. Does this mean the key is bad? I also ordered a new key online and it didn't even make a tone, so I figured that key must be bad.
Now if I needed to swap out the PROM (which I have no idea is) from the old key control module to the new one, wouldn't I not have gotten the same result, #2 above, with the new key control module... I thought it wouldn't do anything, even silence the radio..
Sorry that I may have confused people, or if what I'm saying is really stupid, and thank you OLT for taking the time to break this down and help me out, you've helped me more times than I can count with all of your other posts to.

I don't have my unit in front of me, but the basics are that the key and ECU there have a frequency they operate on. (if not anyone could use any key).
There is a prom (chip) in the ECU that matches the key. The prom is removable.
PS- judging by the table, somebody loves you.

Man you're killing me, it's 31 degrees outside and I had to go to the garage! LOL
Here's the door, here's the prom. swap this with the one from your ORIGINAL unit.

Seems like I should mention this just .... because. You guy's that get tones, but no response do indeed have the remote button in the on position right? It's under the steering column on the dash, a switch.
