Default Redded '93 Tails, Paint and Body Complete- PICS!

Wasn't really feeling the orange strip on my tail lights so I decided to red them out. The results turned out great, it looks almost factory.

Before pic of my tails:

Here is what I used. I bought it from Super Autobacs for $24.99. A little expensive but they're specifically made for redding out car lenses. I've used the Testor's Candy Apple red stuff ($10.00) and it doesn't look as good as this stuff. So spend the extra few bucks.

First I used denatured alcohol to clean off any dirt and debris.

Then masked off the red area and any other areas that I do not want oversprayed. DO NOT mask off other one just yet. Leave it unmasked so you can use it to compare the color for a perfect match.

After about 10-12 coats...

Side by side of before and after, pretty darn close.

If the color is pretty close...stop spraying, move onto the next tail. Remember you can always add more layers later to touch it up. Here's how it looks sprayed and unmasked.

Default cont'd...

Installed. These pics were taken a few months after the mod. They look as good as when I first did them, with no fading.

Thanks for reading my post.

Comments, questions, flames... bring it.

I haven't seen you around OC...you're on Beach/Bolsa right?

Thanks for the comments. The red turned out better than I expected. It matches almost perfectly to the stock red. Sometimes at certain angles and lighting you can tell that it used to be orange, but maybe that's just me being paranoid.

Anyways, you haven't seen me around because I just sold my Celica a few months ago and got my SC. I'm actually on Bushard and Hazard.

Default .

How does it look with the bulb on at night?
Just wondering if you get any weird red orange effect.
Props. Looks good. And best of all looked easy.

When you signal the redded part actually looks orange... just a little redder orange than before. This mod was real easy. With basic spray techniques you will get the same results.

Now you can paint your bodykit

Your SC looks like its coming along well...it's been a long time since we've had a huge OC meet...sounds like time for another before Howie goes away to Philly...

I'm down for a meet. Need a few things touched up on my body kit before it gets painted. So for a couple more weeks I'm gonna be ricing it.

Nice job Chanh. It looks like a very good mod for only $25. I'm probably going to do that
as soon as I install that bumper you sold me. Still haven't had time to do it yet.

Did you get your Teins installed? Your sticker on the rear window leads me to believe yes.
Lets see some pics, mang.

I'm down for an OC meet.

Yeah I got my Teins installed. I haven't really posted any pics cuz of my unpainted body kit... somewhat embarrassing. I took a vid of it to show the drop, enjoy.
