Noise form rear
Whirling noise coming from rear.
I have a 93 sc400
there is a whirling, bearing noise like coming from the rear when I am driving at any speed.
The noise increases with speed.
Anyone have this problem before?
Could it be wheel bearing noise>
Where can I purchase a repaie manual for my SC?
thanks in advance

Good piont.
However , if it was a tire, would it not give me a vibration that would be thumping rather then humming?
I will check it tho.
I hope its not the rear end.
I also noticed that when I am on the highway, making a sharp turn to the left , the noise subsides for a sec.

I've had exactly the same symptoms. It was a rear wheel bearing. Sounds as if your left outer wheel bearing is bad since the sounds lessens while turning left. The bearing itself is not very expensive but it's not that easy to put in.
It's most likely NOT your rear end (diff) but if it is I have an extra diff that I will sell cheap. Good luck.

Thank for all your responses.
This one was tricky.
It turns out that it was all my wheel bearings.
First I replaced the rear.
The noise lessoned but it was stil there. Now it is more pronounced coming from the front.
Additionally, the tires need changing as well, due to worn struts, so they are causing some noise too.
Geeez.
Still love this car tho.

Bearing replacement
This was one heck of a adventure.\First I thought it was noise coming from the rear.
So I replaced rear bearings. $80 per bearing plus labor. = $670
Then problem was still the same, exactly the same, so I went back to find out that it was the right front bearing, replaced it, $75 plus labor =$262.
50 miles later left front started making noise.
Autozone has the same bearing for $39 plus I did it myself.
The reason I did it myself is that it is not that hard but you do need to have access to a press to press out the bearing.
It looks like maybe the balljoint are next, but since it comes with a control arm it will be a whopping expense.
Man this car is great but what a money pit for parts.
I would not buy one again that is used.
If still under warranty it would be fine but if you have to fix it, the parts will get you bankrupt.
