I did a similar mod on my previous car, but I shaved off the old hole and relocated it to the roof like the IS300.

I bought the antenna base here:

http://enfigcarstereo.com/shopsite_s.../antennas.html

They have pretty reasonable prices and ship very quick. It looks like the same base that jtucci used. I would buy the base here and get any knock off stub off ebay.

Those are cool! My antenna motor went out on my sc300. I just pulled it (antenna) up a little by hand and left it that way

Looks nice. I was thinking about replacing the OEM antenna with something along the lines of the Benz SL style antenna. Like this one ...

Anyone did this and knows of a base / stub antenna combination that fits the SC?

Default Don't buy it.

I ordered this from locustom and it works fine, but I can't recommend this antenna. Reception is NOT better, but I haven't hooked up the 12v line to the "booster" yet. jtucci claims his is fine without the booster, but I definitly don't have the same results.

Also, jtucci's pix dont show (and he didn't mention) that you can't get the antenna to point straight up. No matter how you mount it, it will be pointing about 10 degrees to the side, so it looks like a Wal*Mart job. He didn't show a rear view to let us see this flaw.

The install was easy, but I had to fabricate a big washer to get it to fit over the hole in the fender. Not a great fit.

Keep looking if you want an antenna for your SC. I'm calling BS on this thread.

I just ordered a antenna kit made for MDX... it looks a little steeper than the other Fuba kit... so I hope it solves the problem of beeing 10 degrees off.

I'll post pics as soon as it's installed. If it does work, it's gonna look sweet, if not, it'll be an expensive experiment. I'll just ebay it if it doesn't work.

This is a great idea ...never thought about it...I was thinking about repairing or just replacing the stock antenna, because I just recently encountered the same problem as Emerald

Looks good, get it up asap. I'd like to see them pictures. Reason why I wish to do this, is but of course, weight reduction. Every lbs helps in my opinion. Also, I think the stockers suck. Poor reception, or so my experience with it is.

Right now I'm antenna-less and I'm actually getting more reception than with the antenna installed all the way down since it never went up by itself. The new MDX antenna kit didn't arrive yet... but it should be here sometime next week, I'll keep you guys posted. This could be one of the best antenna mods for the SC... or just a ricey failure... hahha
