My door did that and I had someone spoon the panel back into shape since it was bent by the door. I still haven't gotten around to fixing the source of the problem, which is sagging door hinges. See if there is some play in your hinges by lifting the bottom of the door upwards while open to see if it wiggles up and down. If so, there's your problem.

This is common because of the double hinge mechanism in the SC. Look and compare the two sides to be sure the door is kicking out before and after the pivot is extended. Sometimes leaves and debris get jammed underneath the small elbow looking bent metal piece. Underneath that part is a small roller ball device that holds the door open. Try to clean it out with a rag and shoot new grease into it. Spray the hinge points with grease too (not wd40).

New hinges are expenses and pricey to install.

yay someone posted this problem, yeah i have the same prob, once in a while i put vasoline in there, but i figured out that that stuff runs.....i also sprayed wd40, but that dries up, so by cleaning it completely and putting new grease in there, your saying this will relieve the problem of the door hitting the fender??

common problem with all SCs... if it is not bad, you can adjust it back to shape..

how is greasing up the hinge gonna help the alignment f body panels even if it's caused by a hinge

look at the alignment/spacing between:
A-pillar/hood/fender
fender/door
door/quarter panel

i'd start there first

moving it forward is a temporary fix until you get a new hinge. good luck moving yours forward, I had a hard time doing that with mine.

i moved both my fenders up, i know its a temp fix, but i rather move them, then worry about damaging the paint on the door and fender.

greasing the hinge as numerous people stated on this thread will not help the fender/door damage.
