Default window weatherstripping

i have a 92 sc400. my windows are slow moving up and down and i think its mainly due to the old dried up weatherstripping.

who knows where to buy new stripping and how much

or how to replenesh, remoisturize the old rubber?

you can try belt dressing, but really, replacement is the best fix.........and if you have tint on your windows, then i'd not do anything but replace the weatherstripping or belt dressing, wd40, etc, may cause the tint to peel a bit

i'd go to the dealer, i haven't found an online source

honda has hondaautomotiveparts.com and i'm sure lexus has something along those lines.....i'd like to find an online dealer if they do.........

most time it's NOT the weather seal...it's the motor/regulator on their way out.....thanks

Yup. Slow movement of the window is likely due to failing motors. Faulty weather stripping will likely result in sticking windows or screeching as the windows come down. I used some Vinylex or leather cleaner (something very gentle especially because of tint).

but if it's moving up AND down slowly, then that's a sign of sticky weatherstripping.....the motor may be going bad, but normally they don't do it gradually......gravity helps pull it down and keep it from going up as easily when the motor is on the way out, but sticky weatherstripping will grab it whenever.........it can actually cause enough resistance to make a motor go bad........

just roll the window down, spray wd40 in th channel near the front/lower part of the weatherstripping (where the window actually sits in the weatherstripping) and if that helps, it may be your only problem.....it normally catches in the vertical part up front where the window makes contact first.....
