Question Best way to Roll Your Fender on SC300 and Price

I am putting 9.5" rims on my car and think I might need to have my fenders rolled.

I saw that several of you guy have had this done. I did a search and saw that I could rent the machine to do this. How much does it typically cost to have someone else do this?

Thanks!

It's really easy...

You don't need a fender roller to do it.

All you need is a propane torch and a large hammer with a rag over it.

You can do it this way with out cracking the paint at all if you are careful. It's much faster than using a roller, I've done many cars both with and with out a roller. If you have a ****ty paint job the paint will crack doing it either way.

Use the torch to heat the paint up to prevent cracking, then tap the fender lip with the hammer. Easy as that.

haha...the way you worded it sounds risky...

You can use a heatgun and a rubber mallet

A rubber mallet will take all night... seriously, i've tried it with that before... and a heat gun doesn't really get the paint hot enough, i've used that before and found that a portable propane toprch (like $10 at wal-mart) works much better.

O btw acleansc4 the pics of the wheels i put on my roomates SC are up on Vipstyle... for some reason they arn't working on CL... and i'm too lazy to figure out why.

You can also use a baseball bat and a heatgun. The heatgun won't ruin the paint like a torch will.

The problem with using a baseball bat is that it won't roll the lip very flat, it will only angle it like this.... \ instead of being flat like this.... |

A torch WILL NOT ruin the paint... if used correctly. I've done it a million times. Lets not spread misinformation.

Well acutually the bat and hammer together. There is more of a risk in ruining the paint, when using a torch especially if the person has never done it before.

it's very hard to ruin the paint even w/o having done it before. you would have to let the torch sit in one place for several mins before the paint would get messed up. Seriously, there is a greater risk of cracking the paint from using a heat gun (not nearly enough heat) than messing the paint up with a torch.

Ok, now I'm confused

Why don't one of you fly over, roll my fender, I'll BBQ and give you beer, then you fly (or drive) back???
Deal? Deal!

Well either way the paint should be kept at a constant temp.
