Here's me again with my problems...
Does anyone out there know how to CLEAN the shift solenoids. I went to the dealer today to get a diagnostic about what the heck is going on with my car. "THEY" said that I needed to get my SHIFT SOLENOIDS #1,2,and 4 replaced. THEN! I went to another "guy" who has his own shop (Toyota & Lexus specialist) and he said that it might just be DIRTY. Soooooooooooo, is it hard to clean that thing?? Anyone? Anyone?
Desperate as hell....sxys_sc4

Sharon,Which shop did you go to.Since you probably live very close to where i live.
There is a shop called TB auto repair. The shop is located on Nogales street.
You know where the Albertsons with the 76 gas station in the corner is right? Go south from there follow Nogales street past the Acro gas station, then past 99 ranch market, then past the 60 freeway and then there is a Dennys on the right hand side. There is a little auto mall behind that Dennys that is where TB auto repair is.
I do not know if this is the shop you went too,but they are pretty cheap.I had my LS get a tune up there along with a new power steering pump at a very decent price.
Here is their address:
TB Auto Repair Service
18955 Labin Court,Suite A4,
Rowland Heights, Ca 91748
Tel: (626) 964-2990
Well go luck,if something like that ever happened to my LS i would freek out.

The solenoids are inside the transmission, the main part is the labor to get to them.
You can clean them, but usually it's better just to replace them once you have gotten that far into the transmission.
Hell at least the "parts exchanging mechanics" at the dealer didn't tell you that you needed a new transmission! I'm amazed they could diagnose something like this.

The delear she went too was probably Longo! The Best.
Hey DoubleWhoosh since you have done NOS on a LS before, would you like to install the NOS in my LS if i ever decide I to get a NOS KIT?

THANKS edogg & DoubleWhoosh
I didn't go to the one in Roland Heights. I went to Longo to get it diagnosed then I went to this Toyota/Lexus Specialty little dinghole place behind the Mobil station on Nogales. He said that it is very UNCOMMON to have to replace the shift solenoids. It might actually JUST be dirty. SO, he said that if the shift solenoids were replaced YET it still had debris, nothing would stop it to make it NOT WORK again. I don't know what to do. It's crazy, you can never trust them dealers and auto shops. LONGO is charging me $807 plus TAX to get them replaced BUT not warrantied?!?!? if it goes bad again...........

Geez $807:eek: hell no Sharon that is way too much! I got my a new timing belt, nine other new parts, and all my oils changed for my LS and it only costed $1100 at the Rowland shop. Plus they gave me 15% off the labor cost, you can trust this shop they are legit and won't jack you for your $$$ flow. This shop gave a 12,000 mile or 2 month warranty as well!
I would not go to any of the shops behind that alamo car wash and the moblil gas station. they just do not seem legit.
