Default SC300/400 Replaced Headlights and Blue Cut-off line

This is in the SC forum because it related soley to the SC300/400... If I should have put this in the lighting forum, I am sorry.

Great News for you potential Projector Retrofiters

Awhile back I created a post that showed a new passenger headlight that was installed in my car after an accident I was involved in. The new headlight somehow created the look of a BMW retrofit when paired with my Xenon kit. The headlight created a Blue line at the top of the cut-off line. I know that most SC owners with stock projectors and HID conversions are looking for the BMW look. I would actually bet that my headlights have a bluer cut-off line than an Audi or a BMW.

GREAT NEWS, After finding out that Lexus used different lenses in their SC300/400 replacement headlights, I ordered a replacement headlight from IronToad for my Driver's side to see if I could get the same effect as my passenger side. I DID!.. They are also about 3x brighter than with my old headlight fixtures..

THEY LOOK ALMOST IDENTICAL TO BMW AND SC430 Headlights!!!!!!!!! This is the best mod I have done to my car.

I called the Lexus hotline in CA and they confirmed that they use a different lens and made some other minor modifications to the projector. This modification was done for all headlights created after 2002 for the 97+ SC300/400

I will take pictures tonight to show the Blue top of my cutoff line. I was very skeptical that I just bought a headlight that would look like the typical SC300/400 headlight with my HID kit. I am so happy right now!

This is very interesting, almost amazing! I’ll be very interested in seeing the pics. Would you be so kind to quote the price per? I’m getting close to repainting mine and need to add the cost to my savings.

great news!! lets see that cutoff line...

So you bought a brand new headlight? Must be costly to buy 2 brand new headlights & the HID plug-n-play kit...definitely the easier route without having to open your headlights...

on doing the research!

Yeah,
It's a PITA when opening them up and sealing them back again....

I'm curious myself....keep us updated and with pics (before and after) if possible....

hmm, so this company sells replacement headlights, and using a plug n play HID kit will give the BMW/audi flicker and stuff? or just the blue cut off line? hmm

Twisted, you're getting it twisted...(how corny)..

anyways, he's saying the newer headlights made for 97+ models after 2002 come with better projectors/lenses which will give a blue cutoff line when using an HID kit...

Now even if you didn't use an HID plug-n-play kit, these newer headlights will give you better output with say Silverstars...over the old pre-2002 made headlights...

I think i understood that right...unless i got it all mixed up...

I purchased a used 99 / 2000 headlight off eBay and noticed that light output was far better than my original headlight. I guess Lexus made adjustments / improvements to their recently produced projectors.

ohhhh, i gotcha, haha. so the replacement headlights are made with different lenses, offering the "BMW" look with pnp HID kits. i understand now. so you get the retrofit look for plug n play price. er, with new lights, lol.

well where do i order? hahaha.

so getting these headlights with a set of HIDs will be better than doing a retrofit?

Its 6:22pm here, doesn't get dark until 9pm. I will take the pictures then and post them.

I purchased the headlight for $255.00 plus $10.71 for a rubber seal from IronToad.com from Ryan Alderfer (Thompson Lexus in PA) (It's the same guy thats been there for over 5 years, he's awesome!)

This means that you can get all parts (other than the xenon kit) for about $550.00 plus shipping and tax.

I use a 5500k or 6000k Hella HID kit that I bought a few years ago....

Again, pictures will be posted tonight.. around 9pm CST

I agree with everything Cobra said.
I have later year headlight on my driver's side and pre 97 headlight on my right. (both with philips 6000k)

The driver's side have a crisp blue cutt off line. The other side jagged and less bluish.
I'm planning on changing out the pass. side soon.
If anyone has info on a place with best price, please post up. (if not allowed, pm)
