Fuel FIlter change for '92 SC300
#1
Well, I finally changed the fuel filter myself over the weekend. It took me about an hour to do b/c the nuts were rusted onto the old filter. You folks weren't kidding about the amount of fuel that keeps coming out! Overall, it wasn't a big deal. It'll probably take about 30 mins. to do going forward now that the bolts are free of rust.
Has anyone else done this change and noticed a big difference?? Perhaps it is partly psychological, but I noticed a great improvement in throttle response after the fuel filter change. I also switched to Mobil 1 synthetic oil.
Next up will probably be the drive belt. Anyone know if that's hard to do??

The drive belt is easy! That is the first thing I changed on mine after I picked it up. Looked to be the original belt, badly cracked. Anyhow just get a socket I think it was 14mm and a breaker bar, and put on the nut on the tensioner. The just rotate the tensioner to releive the tension and remove the belt and replace. Watch your fingers in case you let the tensioner slip!

thanx for replying to my posts Chris!
What's a breaker bar and where can I get one?
Do I have to apply constant pressure on the breaker bar while removing the drive belt??

breaker bar is just a long bar with a socket end. gives you more leverage to pull on the tensionor with. And yes you need to apply constant pressure to release the tension on the belt, but once you get the belt off at least one pulley you can let the tensionor back down until your ready to put the new one on. Then just get it routed the best you can, so that when you release the pressure on the tensioner you don't have to screw around with moving the belt much and just pop it in place.

fuel filter
Hi,
I want to replace my fuel filter. What's the best and easiest way to do it? I have looked hard for a lexus manual (93 SC400). Or is it better to have a mechanic replace it for you?
