oops, i beleive 95+ have this feature. I know if you take a 95+ cluster and trim piece and install in a pre 95 car, the temp feature still works on the display.

That sucks.

I don't understand why the pre 95 cars didn't come with this feature.

Has anyone else tried this successfully? I put a '95 cluster and controls in my '94. Everything works except the Outside Air Temp and Clock toggle, which does nothing. (It just stays on Clock.)

I suppose it's possible that my '95 cluster is really a '92-94 cluster that was swapped in at some point and lacks the OAT display. Unlikely, but possible.

Edit: It's definitely a '95+ cluster. There's no coolant level indicator, which would have been there for '92-94.

I found a new connector on rockauto.com for the ambient outside temp.I ordered the sensor a couple weeks ago.Didn't take long to come in.The connector is about $41 + change. It comes with the white wiring and what looks like the two splices to splice the wiring.I realize these previous messages were posted a long time ago.But I thought I'd add my two cents worth. The sensor itself costs about $23.00 + change.
The stupid body man I got to repaint my '95 LS400 cut the plug(connector) off the two wires a couple months ago and had no reason to do it.Needless to say,I'm very pissed off about it and I will let him know about it.I called the Lexus dealership to price the connector and harness. They want about $2,200 for a new one.I don't think so.I may look around at junk yards and hope to find the connector before ordering from rockauto.com.My temp also says -22 next to the clock on the dash.To add insult to injury, the body man also did a crappy paint job on the car and I'm going to make him correct it.The gloss coat doesn't look gloss at all.He applied only 2 coats. It takes 4 to 6 coats to look like it should. After he's done,he'll never touch it again.I got a feeling he took my sensor and connector to sale it to another customer to make some extra cash.I do know for sure he's the one that cut it off my car because he's the only one that had the car when the harness went missing so he can't deny it.Even my wife saw the part hanging down below the bumper before I took it to him.I know I'm accusing him of this. But I haven't mentioned his name either.I should have taken to the time to replug it.But hind sight is 20-20.But that's not the point. He could've secured it and left it alone for me to plug back into the sensor. He had no business cutting it off.It had nothing to do with repainting the car. That's the point. It wasn't in his way.But as I said,he'll never touch it again after he fixes the gloss coat problem. He also screwed up my instrument cluster. When I got the car back, the cluster lights would not come on after cranking.Any owner would be pissed after all this.
