Can SC's with no spoilers use the spoilered trunk struts?
Arlene, who has an SC300, asked me to replace her trunk struts. I'm looking to order a set, and remembered that there are 2 kinds, one for spoilered trunks and one for "unspoilered" trunk lids.
I'm wondering what the consequences are of using the beefed up struts on a "unspoilered" trunk lid. Are they so much more powerful that Arlene won't even be able to close the trunk herself? If not, I would think you'd want to use the more powerful ones, since they might help pop up the lid unassisted when you hit the inside release button, and possibly last longer (since they have more gas inside).
Anyone have any experience with this?

To be safe I would used the struts designed for her trunk, I have a spoiler so I got the ones for that purpose. They might be too powerful for the spoilerless sc's, you don't want any mistakes with that gas tank back there. I could be wrong and they would lift the trunk open at a push of a button.

I gave it a shot and put a set of stronger "spoilered" struts on Arlene's SC300 (which has no spoiler) and it worked GREAT!
Once released, the trunk pops up automatically, and as it nears the end of its travel, the strut starts damping so it hits the stop bumpers nice and gently. Plus, even Arlene can close it.
I can't see any down side to recommending this to everyone- the struts are bound to last longer as well, since they have more gas in them. I give this tip a "thumbs up" !
