Unhappy Why won't my new bodykit fit?!?!

Alright, I actually know why I will not get a nice fitment without modifications to my car/kit on my 97 sc300 and in order to properly fit my new JIC magic rear skirt. I know that will only happen with having a 96 bumper cover and earlier, I guess my true question is- if i get any earlier model bumper cover, is that all I will need to get to make my new kit fit, and if so, will an earlier model bumper cover simply bolt into place upon removing my 97 rear bumper cover or will modifications be in order to do so? will I also need to remove the rear side moldings behind the rear tires? Please help before I make any more unneccessary purchases...Thanks

The 97+ rear bumper is different than the all previous years, 97+ rear bumpers sticks out a lot more...The only way you can make the kit fit is if you get pre-97 rear quarter panel moldings and pre-97 rear bumper...Good luck...

has anybody here molded the rear lip to the bumper?
The gap between the bumper and the lip is an eyesoar.

Default chop

i'm about to have my body shop chop the bottom, cut, or do something to make my 97-00 rear bumper fit the JIC rear kit.

Hey Agflex,

I will have the pre97 rear bumper and mouldings pretty soon. My 97-2000 parts are in the body shop now being painted. I will have no use for these parts once I get these parts installed. Hopefully by this weekend or the next. If you want, I can give them to you instead of just throwing them away. Just pay me for the shipping. It will be pretty good rates I hope because I can ship through our parts department. Let me know.

cheaper to buy a used bumper cover.under $200, to chop it would cost about the same.

The length of the 97+ bumper(s) is not only lower to the ground but makes the SC a tad longer. I don't know how you would be able to make the JIC lip fit on a 97+ bumper without some significant body work. You could cut your 97+ bumper shorter to fit but what would you do about length and the lip not fitting towards the rear wheels. If you see a pre-97 bumper you will notice that it is more "snug" and not as long length wise as the 97+ bumpers.

Why don't you see if someone wants to buy your 97+ front, side and back and make sure you get that persons pre-97 bumper. The 97+ body upgrade is pretty popular - so you might make some money and get the right bumper for your JIC kit.

agflex, I think you should take the offer that aasc300 is offering...It's just not worth all the work to convert the 97+ rear bumper to fit the JIC rear lip...

If you are in Atlanta, you arent but a little ways away from me. I live In Cola SC. If you are interested in
a trade, let me know. My bumpers are in perfect shape but the front bumper paint is dull. The car is black.
