Default Got the oil changed at the Toyota dealership

yesterday. Saved myself $55 vs having it done at Lexus dealership.

Thank you to whomever posted this brilliant idea.

Once our '09 was out of warranty, had most all work done at the local Toyota store. Many parts are the same as the Hylander (brakes, wiper refills, etc.) and the service record is stored in the same database. Miss out on the cappuccinos and in the case of the new dealership we bought our '15 from, free manis and pedis for the Wife, but the prices are similarly reflective of that.

Yup, nice to save a few $. When I feel like spending some time with another Lexus I'll go to the Lexus dealer and get a loaner. Last time I went on a Saturday and knew they wouldn't have time to finish, so I kept the loaner until Monday. Had some fun ripping around with an ES350 for a couple of days. But most of the time too busy, easier and cheaper to go to Toyota.

I've gone to Toyota for services since I bought my first 2010 RX. For warranty work you still have to go to the Lexus dealer.

Had the two year (16,800 miles) service done at local Toyota dealer ($75 for synthetic oil change, tire rotation and inspection). They found a leaking front shock in their inspection, called Lexus and got permission to do warranty repair after Lexus ships the new shock to them. Since I'm over 2 hours from the closest Lexus dealer, they have frequently granted permission for local Toyota dealer to do repairs.

Toyota dealers not allowed to work on lexus here in Ottawa. Is that grounds for a complaint with Competition Bureau?

Toyota dealers are not allowed to work in Richmond Hill Ontario, so I use a garage that does great job, for many years on both ES350 and RX350 that I own.

I'm glad for our Toyota Service ( Southern California). they can and will work on our Toyota/Lexus and even hondas/ and other brands.
They just need to call in the parts.

Oil change at Toyota was quoted at $57.95 (plus tax). Lexus was $110.00. I can't see what they do, to charge almost twice as much.

The waiting room experience.
The cappucino, the donuts and other pastries.

Lexus loaners are more expensive than Toyota loaners as well...

Loaners, car wash, rose for the wife, sometimes a free goody like a snow brush, points towards more freebies like detailing. Honestly, i'll pay twice the Costco price-60 bucks - for all of the above.

I'll stick with DIY at the comfort of my home and fridge in the garage.

Toyota Oil Filter - $4 (Ordered a box of 10 at Sewell before they closed. The Camry also uses the same size).
5QT Jug of Mobil1 Full Synthetic - $29 (I keep 3 jugs on reserve at all times)
