The pursuit of F
To you both, I've never had an issue servicing my Lexus models at my local Toyota dealer in west GTA as recent as last fall for the RX.

how long does it take you? do you just jack up one side? I have never done myself before and just seeing if its worth the aggravation IF there is any that is

2 Hrs with multi-tasking (cleaning up the interior after my kids, or my own mess)
A jack is not required. There's plenty of space to navigate underneath with a creeper. If you have the right tools, it's a very simple DIY (e.g. Toyota Filter Wrench, Torque Wrench, Socket wrench set)

As a beginner, it's easy to forget to reinstall the drain plug if you get out from under the car while the oil drains. I recommend staying under the car, and monitoring the flow into the catch pan. You may have to move it because the stream moves. Reinstall the plug and snug it up. Do not over-tighten, the threads in the pan could strip.
As to changing the filter, I recommend watching the YouTube video mentioned on this thread, or Google "YouTube Lexus oil change". This will tell you if it's over your head. (No pun intended) In conclusion, ask an experienced friend to accompany you down the road of a happy oil change.

All great advice Ray. When I was younger it was normal for me to do such routine maintenance. Haven't done it in decades though, mostly because stuff was so hard to get to or not enough time to sacrifice. But by this time next year the free maintenance on my C7 Z51 Vette will be up and I'll be jacking up the front and placing on jack stands (or maybe front ramps) to do it myself again. Will probably buy both. It's not that I save that much money, it's in getting back the satisfaction of maintaining it myself. Most things I'll be able to manage. Warranty repair if necessary will still be a trip to the shop.
