Using a 2004 RX wheel and tire on a 2011 RX
I have a 2004 RX 330 factory wheel and relatively new tire on it. Wheel is the 18" and tire is Michelin OEM 235/55/R18.
Tire rack wheel specs for both seem to be the same bolt pattern. However, 2011 recommends 235/60/R18 instead of the 235/55.
Has anyone used older wheels and tires on newer RX?
I will check with the dealer but greatly interested on real life experiences of members.
TIA.

you are going with a lower aspect ratio than what is recommended. The 235 is the foot print width and the 55 is the ratio in respect to your height vs width. (The 55 sidewall is shorter than the OEM 60.) Essentially you are going with an overall slightly smaller external diameter wheel/tire combined that may affect your speedometer readings to read higher as well as mpg due to a smaller rollout.
FWIW, a 235/55 tire would be fine if it was mounted on 19" rims, and is actually the OEM plus one sizing for the factory 19 inch option.

Closing off on this thread.
Dealer said that the rims can be used as the two models have the same bolt pattern. However, the parts guy said that the difference in millimeters between the 235/55 and 235/60 is beyond the recommended margin that they, as a dealer, would follow as a guide. Hence, the 2004 wheel/tire combo can't be used.
Kijiji it is for the Michelin tires bought at Costco in the summer of 2013. I'm heading over to the sticky thread on tires for recommendations.
